Internet explorer cannot display the webpage?

When I use int. exp. or firefox, the farthest I can get is the homepage and even that takes a longer-than-usual time to load. I cannot search or click on links or icons on the homepage because I always get the "internet explorer cannot display the webpage" message. There are no connection problems. And I know for sure the website is not encountering problems. I tried fixing the problem by resetting internet settings to manufacturer's settings, but it didn't work. For ex. from home page, I click on "yahoo answers" or "mail" and it always gives me the above message. This is the first time I have had this problem. I can't leave the home page. How do I fix my browser?
