YouTube copyright..?

If someone has a musician YouTube account and they post a video of themselves singing a cover of an artist's song (with or without an instrumental to go along with it) is it illegal? The video's purpose will only be for showing friends and family in other places the songs the person sings, not for money or anything like that.

If they say put the video up and say the song is not mine, it belongs to (artist), will it be alright? Or what should they put?

Thank you so much!
YouTube copyright..?
It will be fine if you put it up, because you are in it. Nobody made an original music video of you singing a song, and got it published. So yes, go for it. And what's your youtube username? Ill add you.
YouTube copyright..?
Hm i think a would put the name of the song and the artist anyway but no it should be ok i mean your hardly going to sell it
Reply:no its not illegal its if you get a artists video and put it up like if you made it. you can make a video with the songs of the artist and showing the lyrics instead of the video and its not illegal none of them get copyrighted in other words, you are fine
